Collector's Pics

Christmas updates from my collectors:

It ALWAYS makes my day when I receive Collectors Pics of my paintings in their new home.
This year a couple of people sent in these pics of the paintings under their Christmas trees. I see it as a great honour being included and getting a glimpse where my paintings find their home.
I was so busy tending to commissioned paintings that I didn't have a lot of time to post on my blog in December, so I hope to thread in in the next few weeks what has happened last month in my 'studio' (actually my easel is pitched in my living room by the warm fire, haha).

If you have been following my blog, you have seen above painting before. You can read the story behind this painting in the blog post by clicking here.
And the painting below was purchased by a sweet husband who wanted to surprise his darling wife. I had painted the Winnebago Cabover Painting as part of my 'camper a day' project this past September. He called me up mid December and I got the painting on its way right in time for Christmas. I am smiling as I see how lovingly it is placed! You collectors of mine are theee best, thank you! I appreciate each one of you so very much! You keep me painting and pushing my limits to become better at what I love to do! Thank you!!!

Cold Snap

Have I mentioned it was cold here in the Maritimes the last couple of weeks? Below are some photos from the St. Andrews wharf I took just a few days ago. The sea smoke on the water is a sure fire indication that it is a verrrryyy cold day.

My painting day today

We are expecting a 'snow bomb' to explode here in the Maritimes tomorrow. Markus and the people of St. Andrews have been busy getting their houses ready. I hope people will stay home and stay away from the roads. Here this was the view from the wharf this afternoon. Isn't it beautiful? I started a painting, but couldn't quite finish due to frozen cold fingers. Will post about that in the next few days sometime. Hope to finish some last touches, maybe tomorrow. St. Andrews Waterfront View Wharf winter simone-ritter-art-St-andrews-wharf-waterfront-view-whalewatching-hut-lobster-boat-sunset-2018
Thanks for taking time to visit, and stay in touch again tomorrow.

Art Show on Deer Island

'Island Horizon' Fishing Boat, orig. watercolour by Simone Ritter
20x28in approx.
more info and purchase click here
It has been a while since my last post- but I have been busy painting all along; and we also had our Art Show at the Algonquin Resort a couple of weeks ago which was busy as usual. I had written a special blog post for this, but forgot to post it online- yikes- (artists brain dysfunction I call this). Also, I have been copying blogposts from my website to here, so sometimes I forget... if you'd also like to sign up for my newsletter at www.simoneritterart.com. All subscribers will receive a surprise shortly;-).

Anyhow, if you are in the area next Sunday, August 23rd 2015, please stop in 2-4pm at Jerome Andrew's ocean front Studio Gallery (14 Clines Point Road, Leonardville, Deer Island, (506)747-2310 for a joint exhibit with Jerome's and my works.
'Little Wings' tagging along down to the Lord's Cove Wharf on Deer Island
A couple of days ago, I took my 'Little Wings' vintage Shasta camper over to Deer Island to paint for this coming exhibit-our first overnighter painting trip, while my kiddies had a fun sleep-over at my dear friend Mary's house (bless her heart for taking them all and giving me some time for myself and painting- thank you, thank you! The offers to take kids get fewer the more kids there are, so if someone is helping out, it means so much to us moms).
Anyhow, I arrived later than planned on Deer Island, it was foggy and so I ditched the idea of doing some nice sunset paintings as all scenery was 'vanishing in the mist'.
I took my time getting 'Little Wings' parked (you get the idea, ha, ha) and set up at my friend Anke's Deer Island Inn (www.diinn.com), who so generously allowed me to stay on her grounds.
I really enjoyed my peace and quiet there and also had a pleasant visit by two girls, friends of my daughter's who were hoping Sabrina had tracked along.
Inside my 1960's Shasta Camper, making a simple but yummy breakfast

In the morning after cooking up some breakfast and a warm cup of coffee from Anke, I stopped by Lynne Bowland's place- Fireball Gallery- specializing in handcrafted glass beads and works by canadian women. I am very fortunate to be one of her featured artists!
Well I just wanted to say 'hi', but after hearing one of my paintings just sold, I treated myself to a most beautiful bracelet and earring set handmade by Lynne. I just love her works! Check out her etsy store , too (www.etsy.com/shop/islandgirl).
After FINALLY starting to paint then in the morning, I began with smaller paintings and finished with this big fishing boat portrait of the 'Island Horizon'. By then the fog was almost burnt off.
All paintings will go in my show on Deer Island opening next Sunday, August 23, 2-4 at Jerome Andrew's ocean front Gallery Studio, where you can see his surrealist works as well. We will share the wall space for one week, Art will be on display until September 1st 10-4 daily.
Hope you can come and check it out- I might even bring 'Little Wings' along for the Opening!

Fundy Bay Fisheries

Fundy Bay Fishing Boat, oil 6x6, sold
(10$ from each sale donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser for hearing aids)

This is my second last painting for this 30-day-challenge, and because the weather wasn't really nice outside and the schooling was a draaaaag today (hey, Monday!), I opted for a studio session in the warm with radio entertainment and a yummy cup of tea after the kids' bedtime- hence another late-nighter, haha!
I love the local fishing boats, their rustic charm, a perfect fit for our rugged coastline with its ever-changing tides.
Thank you for stopping by, nighty night (or: Good morning to Germany)!
If you have enjoyed following me on this painting-journey, and are not already a subscriber to my blog or a SimoneRitterArt FB fan, I'd like to invite you!
Hope to stay in touch!                                                                                     Simone

I primed the Canvas red to counterbalance all the greens and blues

Simone

(10$ from each sale donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby'
www.facebook.com/events/933751463305810/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming)

What a great day it was- the weather almost like in July! Great choir concert with the 'Voices of the Bay' (Sunday on Grand Manan and October 19, St. Stephen- if you can, treat yourself!) and morning fun at the anglican fall fair (lots of candy for the kids and fun games, thank you to all the volunteers and organizers!). Late afternoon painting at the wharf, today it was the yellow fishing boat. Had a nice visit from the daughter of the fisherman owning the 'All Done' (the turquoise boat I painted a couple of days ago). All in all a memorable autumn day! A blessed Sunday to you all and thank you for stopping by!           Simone

Simone

Midnight Painter

'All Done', oil, 6x6in, sold
(10$ from each 30-day-challenge sale will be donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser for hearing aids)

It's late again, past midnight while I write this- maybe I am a midnight painter/blogger?
Today's painting is a studio piece after I loved yesterday's mood at the wharf and didn't get a chance to head down today, so a studio session it was... It's one of (if I'm not mistaken) only three actively used fishing boats left in St. Andrews: the 'All Done', who I have painted many, many times over the years. The golden years of the fisheries certainly are over and the licenses are passed down from generation to generation, as it has been with the All Done. She looks weathered, tired, telling many stories of her life at sea. I love painting the All Done and wish her many more years! Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,                         Simone

Extra deep gallery wrap

Danke fuer's vorbeischau'n! Vergelt's Gott!                     Simone

Windy by the Wharf

Dancing Dinghy by the Wharf, oil, 6x6, sold
(with all paintings sold in this 30-day-challenge: 10$ donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser: www.facebook.com/events/933751463305810/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming  )

Wooo, was it ever windy today down by the wharf, true autumn spirit! I was glad to have a hoody and a scarf with me! The little green dinghy was dancing in the choppy waves and the clouds were playing colour-change-games with the water as they were rushing by... Happy fall y'all!  Simone

this is more like the real colours...

Schoenen Herbstanfang euch allen! Simone

Plein air paint-out and 'Pool Painting'

Saint John Power Boat Club
watercolour 11x14in approx. 27x35cm Aquarell
225$

yesterday was a busy day painting with the 'plein air painters of the bay of fundy'- annual paint out. this year in Saint John with the show beeing on display at the Saint John Arts Center from June 24- September 4th 2010.
it was great meeting up with the other artists and soon afterwards everyone headed to their chosen painting spot and only a couple of us were still at the Saint John Power Boat Club marina painting away mid afternoon. the morning i spent painting this acrylic near the SJAC to be close for the noon meet-up.

Saint John View
Acrylic on panel 6x8in 15x20cm Acryl
sold
today i didn't make it unfortunately due to restaurant (our business) obligations and our 3 children missing their mom.
below is the big Pool Painting i did a couple months back and never seem to find the time to blog about in depth.
It was meant to go into the humid pool area i choose high quality metal primed sign board and ASTM non-toxic sign paint (for the initial 'block in') and artists acrylics for the over layers.
out came a bright swirly and vibrant painting which i hope the viewer finds joyful and stimulating.
our inn pool will not be built this year- too many delays- but i had great fun 'going big'.
the size is 8ftx8ft and i had it attached to our living room wall while i painted it.
you can see it 'in persona' at the 'fundy artists' sale and show at the fairmont algonquin end of july.
thanks for visiting!
