Studies in White- Eggs

Cracked Egg #1, 6x6in, oil on hardboard panel, available here
Last post I shared with you my white mushroom paintings, today I share with you my white eggs.
Yes, I always had wanted to paint a raw, cracked egg. The translucent white in contrast with the bright yellow yolk fascinates me.
To give it a try was the start to my January theme of painting all yummies that could go into an omelet.
I cracked the egg onto a white plate to forgo the mess of cleaning up, haha. Here's a photo of one of the egg paintings on a tray with some of the other veggie paintings. If you have been following me on my Instagram or Facebook feeds, you have seen my 'in situ' shots and studio shots frequently.

As mentioned before, my Valentine's Outreach:
Each of these 6x6in paintings is available for sale. $100 incl. shipping. Also, $15 from each sale will be donated to 'Backpack Blessings and Beyond' who help local school children that face food insecurity. They have backpacks filled with food waiting by the school entrance each Friday as they head home for the weekend. What a wonderful world it would be if every child would have a belly filled and no worry if there's food in the fridge.

(10$ from each sale donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby'
www.facebook.com/events/933751463305810/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming)

What a great day it was- the weather almost like in July! Great choir concert with the 'Voices of the Bay' (Sunday on Grand Manan and October 19, St. Stephen- if you can, treat yourself!) and morning fun at the anglican fall fair (lots of candy for the kids and fun games, thank you to all the volunteers and organizers!). Late afternoon painting at the wharf, today it was the yellow fishing boat. Had a nice visit from the daughter of the fisherman owning the 'All Done' (the turquoise boat I painted a couple of days ago). All in all a memorable autumn day! A blessed Sunday to you all and thank you for stopping by!           Simone

Simone

Midnight Painter

'All Done', oil, 6x6in, sold
(10$ from each 30-day-challenge sale will be donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser for hearing aids)

It's late again, past midnight while I write this- maybe I am a midnight painter/blogger?
Today's painting is a studio piece after I loved yesterday's mood at the wharf and didn't get a chance to head down today, so a studio session it was... It's one of (if I'm not mistaken) only three actively used fishing boats left in St. Andrews: the 'All Done', who I have painted many, many times over the years. The golden years of the fisheries certainly are over and the licenses are passed down from generation to generation, as it has been with the All Done. She looks weathered, tired, telling many stories of her life at sea. I love painting the All Done and wish her many more years! Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,                         Simone

Extra deep gallery wrap

Danke fuer's vorbeischau'n! Vergelt's Gott!                     Simone

Windy by the Wharf

Dancing Dinghy by the Wharf, oil, 6x6, sold
(with all paintings sold in this 30-day-challenge: 10$ donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser: www.facebook.com/events/933751463305810/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming  )

Wooo, was it ever windy today down by the wharf, true autumn spirit! I was glad to have a hoody and a scarf with me! The little green dinghy was dancing in the choppy waves and the clouds were playing colour-change-games with the water as they were rushing by... Happy fall y'all!  Simone

this is more like the real colours...

Schoenen Herbstanfang euch allen! Simone

Peeking Over the Fence, Day #6

Peeking over the Fence, oil, 6x6in (15x15cm approx.), plein air, 50$

Today's painting is of my neighbours house's beautiful little back entrance.
The house has a white picket fence which blocks out the view from the Street.
He is very attentive to his yard and the little house is a gem downtown St. Andrews.  The house has
a law office on the ground floor.
It was overcast all morning and looked like rain, so I decided to stay on our deck under the umbrella.
Now it is all cleared up and the sun is shining.
Today is also the birthday of our youngest: Mathias is turning 5! Happy Birthday Mathias!

St. Andrews Cottage

St. Andrews Cottage, oil, 6x6in. plein air, 50$

Today's painting I just finished! After we finished schooling (happy weekend all;-), the kids wanted to go to the playground. They had fun running and climbing and I started today's painting. After I had blocked in and just gained ground I heard that noise which made me crinch... I knew what was coming: a lawn tractor! I was all set-up in the middle of the green space and knew I had to move.
My kids were kind and helped re-locate, but by moving the easel, the painting tipped and fell into the palette- yikes! So, this was a good exercise in 'keeping focus', after all I could finish it from a distance where there was a nice shady spot. I'm off not to cook dinner for the 'gang', while Markus is busy, busy in the restaurant.   Thanks for stopping by!                              Simone

PS: My big 'Pool Painting' will be going to the brand new Algonquin Resort Pool- will post pic's once installed..

Pool Painting, on display at the Algonquin Resort St. Andrews, $7800.-

Vielen Dank fuer's vorbeischau'n!                                                              Simone

PS: Mein grosses Poolgemaelde wird fuer's Marriott Algonquin Resort abgeholt- in ihren neuen Poolbereich

And a Happy new Year!

Orange Slices 6x8in
acrylic on board/acryl on malplatte
$125 framed/ 95$ unframed
time is flying and so i should make it my new-years resolution to blog more often, more regularly... right???
yes, we had a wonderful Christmas with the kids. of course during special holidays we miss our families and we cannot leave our restaurant closed as it is a busy time of year for dining out. but we make the most of it by spending family time together, baking german cookies and schedule extra snuggles with our children. yes, this Christmas was truly wonderful and a blessing for us-
and it left me refreshed to start off the new year with enthusiasm to 'get paintin' for my 2 shows coming up this summer and new ideas (not telling yet, haha).

(sorry for the glare- hard to photograph)

now i'd ask for your input: as you know we are developing our inn and i have it in my mind that i'd like to have original artwork in all our rooms.
now, here's where i'd ask for your input and advice: as a traveller to the east coast in canada staying at Europa Inn, would you like to see abstract or representational art in your guest room?
i will start painting in the next couple of weeks, so any input is much appreciated!
my special prayers for this year go for Peace in the world
and for the people that lost their homes in the flood disaster just before christmas like our friends Norm and Peggy.
This Saturday, January 15th, we are holding a fundraiser dinner here at Europa Inn with all profits going to the relief efforts.
tickets are 30$, and can be purchased directly at Europa Inn: (506) 529-3818.

all our best wishes for 2011 from our family to yours!
Sabrina's erster Balletbesuch ein toller Spass
Sabrina's first visit at the Ballett, we had fun!
