Day two this year and I've painted a second apple, wohoo! The little pleasures. So I call this sketch Two Apples, More Vitamins. I like this medium, always come back to it as a ways to see things new. It is straightforward to judge the colour stick to the actual colour of the object. I then can either put it down or substitute by finding a different colour the same value. This creates little colourful flicks here and there that make the painting more interesting, more colourful. Well, a colour junkie talking here, haha.

Hope to find time again tomorrow for another little sketch. On Thursday another snow storm is expected, so I might be stuck inside still with the kids bouncing off the walls. At least the temperatures are expected to be higher and freezing water pipes are less likely.

Harvest Time

Isn't fall such a beautiful time of year, with nature in full glory, the leaves wear their prettiest red dresses and the trees and flowers bring us their yummiest gifts! Today's painting is of the plums we picked yesterday at Mckay's apple orchard, yummy! Happy Weekend everyone! Oh, and tomorrow is NB open farm day!  Hope you can go and visit a farm, too!              Simone

Ist der Herbst nicht eine wunderbare Jahreszeit? Die Natur erstrahlt in vollster Schönheit, die Blätter ziehen ihre hübschesten Kleidchen an und die Bäume und Blumen bringen uns ihre leckersten Geschenke! Das heutige Bild ist von den saftigen Pflaumen (Zwetschgen), die wir gestern bei Mckay's gepflückt haben. Frohes Wochenende euch Allen! Oh, und morgen ist New Brunswick Tag der offenen Tuere bei vielen Bauern! Ich hoffe ihr könnt auch rausgehen und den Herbst geniessen!

Waiting for the Ferry

Today was the perfect 'Fun Friday' for my kids and me *- we finished ahead with schooling and then rewarded ourselves going apple picking to Mckay's, hiking and visiting a friend at the Kingston Peninsula! Our catholic homeschool families organized the apple picking 'short notice' and it worked great! Beautiful day, fun, friends and memories made. Well, sometimes you have to wait a bit for a ferry, too- then you can paint!         see you tomorrow!                                Simone

Heute war der perfekte 'Fun Friday' fuer meine Kinder und mich* wir waren frueh fertig mit unserem Wochenpensum Schulstoff und so belohnten wir uns mit einem Ausflug zum Apfelbauern, wandern und Freunde Besuchen auf der Kingston Halbinsel nahe Saint John. Unsere katholische Homeschool Mama's haben das kurzfristig organisiert und alles passte! Wunderschoener Tag, viele Freunde, Spass und schoene Erinnerungen gemacht. Naja, manchmal muss man dann doch auf die Faehre warten, aber dann kann man ja malen;-)                      bis morgen dann!                              Simone
