Some camper owners are taking part in my camper-a-day project more than once. They send in different photos of their camper or re-submit the photos if I didn't get around to getting their campie painted the first time around. Today we have such a camper who I have painted before. Her name is Wildflower and she is a 1968 Serro Scotty.

I'd say along with the Shasta make, the Scotties are among the most beloved and available names out there in vintage camper land. These here have a distinct aqua color (except the very last years of production) and often this dome-shaped top. You can see the painting of Christmas -Glamp Wildflower by clicking here.

A bit about this painting:

I tried to push the white siding colour towards a sunny yellow with this painting, reflecting the warm colors around it. I like colorful shadows, especially when the subject is so whimsy as this camper. A general rule of thumb in the art world is, that shadows may be painted with lots of colors when the surrounding is not very colorful (example: bright sunlight washing out colors from the surrounding objects), and other way around, keep the shadows more neutral when there is lots of colour happening around (often on overcast days). Of course, we are here in art, so every rule is there to be broken- with gusto! Cheers to that!

The owner of 'Wildflower' actually was the one that submitted the photo for her glamper friend who just got her diagnosis of cancer. You can read about the story here. By the way, the friend will start full treatment of the very aggressive cancer within the next days. She is in fighting mode now- she has to! I will keep you in my prayers!

Today's featured camper is this darling 1968 Serro Scotty 'Patsy Lee'..

Her pretty owner Laura was just diagnosed with breast cancer and will be battling a tough fight. Still, her spirits are high, as this weekend past, she had her beloved 'Patsy Lee' out glamping at a festival!

Don't we all know someone dear to our heart that is/has been battling cancer? My own mom is a survivor now for 5 years, but her life has never been the same as before. So, dear Laura, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time and I know you will be so brave and give all you can to stand against this terrible enemy!

I hope my little painting will brighten your day. Even though, I have to admit, my infant-stages portrait-painting skills couldn't do your beauty justice! All I can say is, I painted with love!

As a side-note, I have been in touch with her friend who cares very much about her. Even though, this is a big continent and people might not know each other in person, but still, the vintage camper fans are a pretty tight-knit family with one caring for another. I have met the nicest, most caring ladies over the past couple of years that have been journeying with me in my quest to paint those beloved little treasures. I have made friends! Thank you all, dear glamper friends- near and far! I treasure you very much and you enrich my life every day!

Oh my, what a long journey this little Scotty was for me! When a camper is gorgeous in every aspect- set up, colours used and props... it makes it actually quite hard to paint it to do it justice and that stresses me out... So, here I have been tip toeing myself slowly but surely towards the final painting. Actually, not really final either as the photo I took of it, I changed and adjusted some little things here and there as I see things call out to me on the screen, but now it is so late that I don't want to go through the whole photographing, editing, adjusting and cropping and re-sizing for web again. I hope this will be OK for the moment, I will do a re-take tomorrow when I'm fresh again and chipper.

Here we go, another Christmas Campie, fully decked out, including a happy little visitor- Charlie the cat! The owner writes that as soon as she was finished decorating, her cat came and sat down on the chair not moving away. Even the little animals seem to enjoy the special touches and love that goes into getting things decorated with heart.

It is again a late night, so I shall keep it short and sweet with this post today. I hope you had a great day!

Our town is full of excitement and buzz with Canada's new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holding his first cabinet meeting in our little town of 2500.     St. Andrews is filled with police, media and security. Today when we went ice skating, the police was already parked outside the rink as there was a spaghetti dinner meet and greet for the towns people with Mr. Trudeau and his cabinet members. Many photos are proudly shared now on facebook, I opted to stay home with the kids, being more of the introvert kind and after seeing the crowds when he arrived at the Algonquin.

September Camper Collage

Yey, I did it! I painted every day of September and came up with 28 camper portraits, 1 camper interior and 4 non-related paintings!

I'm so tired, but so happy to have pushed myself to not give up!

And I am happy to share this collage with you, showcasing all the featured campers from September 2015!
Thanks to all that purchased a painting, $100 were donated to a local girl with cancer and $280 to 'Doctors without Borders', thank you!

Yey, Ich hab's geschafft! Ich malte jeden Tag im September und habe 28 Wohnwagenportraits, 1 Wohnwageninterieur und 4 Nicht-Wohnwagenbilder gemalt!

Ich bin jetzt sooo muede, aber auch so froh dass ich mich angestrengt habe und nicht aufgegeben!

Und ich freue mich, dir diese Collage vorzustellen, mit all den Campern vom vergangen September 2015!
Insgesamt wurden durch verkaufte Bilder 100$ an ein krebskrankes Maedchen aus St. Andrews und 280$ gespendet an 'Doctors without Borders' ('Aerzte ohne Grenzen'). Vielen Dank!

Falls dein Wohnwagen nicht dabei ist, oder du zu spaet davon erfahren hast, keine Verzweiflung, denn ich nehme mir vor, in den kommenden Wochen ab und zu mehr Camper zu malen und im Januar gibt es wieder eine neue Challenge von Leslie Saeta, bei der ich plane wieder mitzumachen. Camper of the Day is this dreamy 1976 Scotty Highlander. 

The Scotty and Shasta seem to be among the most common and popular vintage camper makes.

The pre-1979 Scotty is recognized by the aqua blue accent colour on the siding, which so many people love.

Produced were the campers in Pennsylvania from 1957-1997. For more information, check out the Tin Can Tourist Website.

This is my first nocturne painting, which was a bit of a challenge, but I'm happy the way it turned out- and I learned a lot, which

is ultimately the reason for this daily painting challenge- to get challenged and get better at painting.

I am so thankful to all who have helped me in sharing their precious vintage trailers with me, thank you, thank you, thank you!

We had massive rainfall today, so much so that I had drive slow when bringing the kids to school! 

But it has stopped now and tomorrow it is supposed to be even a bit sunny. Great, because I have plans to take 'the gang' to the fall fair at Ganong Nature Park. 

Wohnwagen des Tages ist dieser verträumte 1976 Scotty Highlander.

Die Scotty und Shasta Wohnwagen sind mitunter die beliebtesten und am meisten verbreitetsten Marken unter den Oldtimern.

Scotty's älter als 1976 sind erkennbar an dem türkisfarbenen Streifen, eine Farbe die sehr beliebt ist.

Hergestellt wurden sie in Pennsylvania von 1957-97. Mehr Info gibt's hier: Tin Can Tourist.

Dies ist mein erstes Nachtbild, drum war es eine Herausforderung, aber ich bin dennoch froh wie es rausgekommen ist. Ich lernte viel, und das ist ja auch der Hauptgrund warum ich täglich male.

Wir hatten massive Regenfälle heute morgen und über Mittag, dass ich langsam fahren musste als ich die Kinder zur Schule gebracht habe.  Aber es hat jetzt aufgehört und morgen soll es sogar ein bisschen sonnig werden. Das ist super, denn ich habe geplant die Rasselbande zum Fall Fair (Herbstfest) zu nehmen.

Today we have a cute Serro Scotty decked out for an 'al fresco' luncheon.
I love the red checkered tablecloth so typical and whimsical and the folding chair.
                           As we are bracing for a major snow blizzard here in the Canadian Maritimes, I take comfort in painting summery scenes!
