Camper Sketch and a Plein Air Piece

Winter at St. Andrews Wharf
orig. oil painting on ampersand hardboard 6x8in
$75 + $5 shipping

I'm coming to an end with Leslie Saeta's January painting challenge. It has been a lot of fun and I learned a lot- thank you for walking along with me!
The weather was so beautiful here in St. Andrews today, I just couldn't stay indoors. There is a big snow hill down by the wharf where the town ploughs dump loads of snow into a high hill- my kids look forward to this every year and today we trotted down to have some winter fun with toboggans and me with my oil paint set.
For the camper sketch I started dabbling away at a few days ago, not a finished piece, but maybe an idea for a later painting...
See you tomorrow again for a 'deja vu collage'!
                                                    Simone

Simone

Commission Painting and Display

Day out in St. Andrews
watercolour, 6x7.5in, sold

The day after my 30-paintings-in-30-days challenge, I headed right back to painting: watercolour this time (for a commission). The client asked for a St. Andrews scene as the painting was a going away gift.

I finally got around to display the dried paintings from my September challenge! I think the display turned out fun and colourful- and our french butler is not so lonely now;-)
If you are interested in a painting (think Christmas!)  stop by the restaurant anytime after 3:30pm to view them. $50 each, the big Coca-Cola is $150 (10$ from each sale donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby Fundraiser for hearing aids).
I am wishing you a great start into this week!                                                                                                                                                                          Blessings,      Simone

Display at Europa Inn Entrance Area

Simone

Midnight Painter

'All Done', oil, 6x6in, sold
(10$ from each 30-day-challenge sale will be donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser for hearing aids)

It's late again, past midnight while I write this- maybe I am a midnight painter/blogger?
Today's painting is a studio piece after I loved yesterday's mood at the wharf and didn't get a chance to head down today, so a studio session it was... It's one of (if I'm not mistaken) only three actively used fishing boats left in St. Andrews: the 'All Done', who I have painted many, many times over the years. The golden years of the fisheries certainly are over and the licenses are passed down from generation to generation, as it has been with the All Done. She looks weathered, tired, telling many stories of her life at sea. I love painting the All Done and wish her many more years! Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,                         Simone

Extra deep gallery wrap

Danke fuer's vorbeischau'n! Vergelt's Gott!                     Simone

Windy by the Wharf

Dancing Dinghy by the Wharf, oil, 6x6, sold
(with all paintings sold in this 30-day-challenge: 10$ donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby' Fundraiser: www.facebook.com/events/933751463305810/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming  )

Wooo, was it ever windy today down by the wharf, true autumn spirit! I was glad to have a hoody and a scarf with me! The little green dinghy was dancing in the choppy waves and the clouds were playing colour-change-games with the water as they were rushing by... Happy fall y'all!  Simone

this is more like the real colours...

Schoenen Herbstanfang euch allen! Simone

Day 15: Combined Effort

Wharf Hut, 6x6, palette knife, 50$

So, today is Monday, and it's a somewhat hard day after a beautiful weekend, right?
After we were back from Saint John and the groceries were put away, we- the 'gang' and I- headed out to paint and play by the beach. I set up by Cricket Cove Yarn to paint their sweet hot pink patio chairs and got started when I heard screaming from the beach. My kids were fighting over something and they screeched so loud that the store clerks were coming out to check what's up! I told them, that
it's a normal sound as Sabrina tries to boss the boys around and they don't want her doing it. After retrieving her and have her sitting besides Mama reading her book, the boys showed up wet all over!
There was a cold wind, so home I sent them to a warm shower. Returning back to the easel, the clerks closed up for the night and took the chairs in... and then as I try to finish the surroundings, an inquisitive tourist couple (very sweet) asked the inside scoop of life in St. Andrews year round and real estate and population and so on... I guess they are debating of coming to St. Andrews...
well, by the end of the conversation, the sun had moved too far and I just had to quit. So, here's my today's effort, half done (you get what you get, right?).
Lucky me, I had one extra done up a couple of days ago, and here it is as my 'finished' contribution:
St. Andrews Wharf Hut! Hope tomorrow will be a 'Tuesday' kind of day;-)                 Simone

Pink Deck Chairs, work in progress, colours are off due to poor lighting indoors....

So, hier also mein heutiger versuch, halb fertig (man nimmt's wie's kommt, gell?)
Simone

Day 13: Fishing Boat from my top deck

Today's painting for my 30-days-project is from my top deck. I basically didn't like very much how I finished last night at almost midnight with the posting, so I decided I had to jump in in the morning to get a head start before going to Kingsbrae Gardens with my friend Isobel Cunningham, an accomplished writer from Montreal. So I had to get moving to get 'er done, which sometimes is a good thing;-) Well, it's almost midnight now as I write this... I tried anyway, haha!
The yellow fishing boat I could see from my balcony which was perfect not to have to log all stuff around. Well, I came back from Kingsbrae in the afternoon and finished some minor spots here and there and wanted to do the bottom of the 'museum depth' canvas... and it falls into the palette... big smudge... oh nooo... on a rescue mission... now finished...
The yellow boat, oil, plein air, 6x6in, 50$

Ausbessern... jetzt fertig...
