People that know me, know that every spring I go crazy over tulips, it's kind of a love affair almost- heralding in the warmer weather. There is a tulip farm on Prince Edward Island called Vanco Farm and I absolutely adore their tulips. They are usually available at the local Superstores and every year I look out for them starting in February... how crazy is that?
With my lighthouses lately I haven't had the time to paint as much tulips as I wished, but when Markus bought for me those purple tulips darlings, I couldn't resist! I have been waiting patiently for them to open up, not pushing them with warm temperatures by the heater, but rather enjoying their gentle dance growing taller, opening up.
I love how their slender stems keep climbing up towards the light, turning, stretching and nodding as the flower slowly opens up to reveal their precious petals, steamers and inside markings. It symbolizes new birth, new life to me. And just as life, it is not always easy but with the occasional growing pain and dangerously slippery road. In our lives, too, we have to walk out in faith our eyes focused, to embrace what every new day has to offer- whatever it might be. Life isn't for the faint of heart, really, when I think about it; but oh, so rewarding- look at those tulips!
Let's embrace this spring with a big hug, smile or gentle gesture to someone who might need it today! Just as those purple tulips have brought a smile to my heart!
See you soon and thanks for stopping by!                                              Simone

Purple Tulips- and No Spring (Yet)

Purple Spring Tulips,
oil on panel, 6x6in each

OK, we're freezing here at -12 Celsius today (10Fahrenheit), so warm greetings are very welcome at this time!
My parents in Germany enjoy spring temps and sunny weather, other friends are in Cuba or Texas (yes, Texas Tourism is doing a lot
of advertising here in New Brunswick these days), or other warm destinations... I love to hear from them and see photos!
I'm preparing for Holy Week and Easter, our little music group has been busy practising for Mass; this is quite the leap for me
to play on such a high feast day- wish me luck and say a prayer;-)

But enough of non-painting talk here, may I introduce: The Purple Tulip 4-some. I almost couldn't finish as they opened up and
were spent within just a few short days, so I had to focus on getting these paintings finished, there was no time then for blogging.
So here are all 4 of them finished.

A new tulip bunch is bought already, stay tuned what colour! (they're just now opening up)

Purple Tulip Tumble

Purple Tulip Tumble
watercolour, 20 x 7in

As we have been shovelling out from yet another snow storm and some new 30cm of snow
(about 1ft), I've been enjoying more tulips in the house, this time those purple ones!
Spring has officially arrived- if only on the calendar and I'm celebrating this!
Have a blessed weekend!                                                                        Simone

Red Tulip Tumble #2
  watercolour, 20x7in

Simone

Spring Tulips #3

Spring Tulips red/yellow, completed set of 4
6x6in each

The first bundle of spring tulips have wilted away and a second bunch I bought!
So, here are the finished paintings of the red-and-yellow tulips and stay tuned for more
tulips in different colors! Spring is still not arriving here, we had a snow storm last night (another snow day for the kids)
and more snow predicted for the coming days... well, whenever spring is ready to come finally,
we are ready, too! Haha! Have a happy Monday everyone!

Spring Tulips WIP (Work In Progress) and finished painting

Simone
