Camper a Day January 2016 Successful

Camper a Day Collage-January-2016-Vintage-Camper_Simone-Ritter-Art_watercolour_medium
Vintage Camper-a-Day January 2016
So, we've done it! Another successful 30 campers in 30 paintings we created this January! Yey!

Camper-a-Day

I have to admit, it was a lot of work and many late nights. My darling husband waiting on the couch for me, only to find out I'd have no time. But he is always happy for me to do what I love and painting certainly is one- and a love for vintage camper is another. So, it was a wonderful months for me painting a camper-a-day. Of course I couldn't have done it without the many, many stunning photos you sent it after my submission call- what an honour- thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Thank you

to the 1400 other artists globally that painted along this month and posted their awesome art on Leslie Saeta's website. It was a joy to watch every day the postings, it's such a motivator to get up and post and get inspired by all the others!

On another note:

For any newsletter subscribers, I have started to send out the welcome gift greeting cards. If you have not yet received yours yet, it might be that I don't have an address where to send it. If you could give me a mailing address, I will get those out to you after Valentine's;-)- and for any new sign-ups, just fill in at the sign-up screen. I don't use it for spam or selling or anything like this, but to send you the gift. I'm just a one-woman show here, no big company;-)
Anyhow, I'm off now for a few days and will get started on some bigger ideas soon, stay stuned;-)
All my very best to you!                            Simone

upcoming Art Show Feb 10th, 2012

a night at the theatre
 oil/acrylic on canvas
24x30in each
It has been a long time since my last blog, but i have been painting!
yesterday i got an email from Sunbury Shores Director Jamie Steel
that my art show will go up next friday,
february 10th, 2012 with
an opening reception from 5-6.30pm.
i hope you can stop by and see what i've been up to lately;-)
here is a glimpse of some of the paintings on display...
as you can see we're gettin' abstract here, but it's so much fun!
i feel like freeing myself from the safety net of realism and embracing
my inner voice. i still enjoy traditional painting especially plein air painting
outdoors, but i never really did thrive on painting from photographs..
so, i guess it was a matter of time for this change in painting style to evolve.
Here on the coast it is wintery, yes, but i hope the temperatures will climb
with the longer daytime hours. In the past months my LORD has blessed me with many wonderful
new friendships, spiritual growth and tons of happiness from within!
may he touch you today and bless you and yours!
Thank you for stopping by;-) Simone

Vielen Dank fuers Vorbeischaun;-) Simone

Yours Truly, enjoying Meersburg with its Vineyards, historic downtown and 'thermal springs' pool.
Meiner Einer genoss Meersburg mit seinen Weinbergen, Mittelalterlichen Altstadt und Meersburg Therme.

The weeks fly by and I still remember fondly the great time I enjoyed in germany this spring.
here are the paintings I did during that time. all are available at Hotel Gierer in Wasserburg at the Bodensee. This is also the Hotel where my husband Markus did his apprenticeship as Chef- and also i worked there for a summer making breakfast, rooms and laundry before i started my new job as dental technician. This was in 1999, and by the end of the summer i met Markus there as well- you know the rest of the story, haha! Hotel Gierer has a newly added big SPA area with all kinds of sauna, pool and ice grottas. If you go to Lake Constance for a vacation and you'd like to treat yourself... make a stop at the Hotel Gierer and say Hi from me! If you are looking for a nice hotel in Lindau check out Hotel Ratsstuben!

And a Happy new Year!

Orange Slices 6x8in
acrylic on board/acryl on malplatte
$125 framed/ 95$ unframed
time is flying and so i should make it my new-years resolution to blog more often, more regularly... right???
yes, we had a wonderful Christmas with the kids. of course during special holidays we miss our families and we cannot leave our restaurant closed as it is a busy time of year for dining out. but we make the most of it by spending family time together, baking german cookies and schedule extra snuggles with our children. yes, this Christmas was truly wonderful and a blessing for us-
and it left me refreshed to start off the new year with enthusiasm to 'get paintin' for my 2 shows coming up this summer and new ideas (not telling yet, haha).

(sorry for the glare- hard to photograph)

now i'd ask for your input: as you know we are developing our inn and i have it in my mind that i'd like to have original artwork in all our rooms.
now, here's where i'd ask for your input and advice: as a traveller to the east coast in canada staying at Europa Inn, would you like to see abstract or representational art in your guest room?
i will start painting in the next couple of weeks, so any input is much appreciated!
my special prayers for this year go for Peace in the world
and for the people that lost their homes in the flood disaster just before christmas like our friends Norm and Peggy.
This Saturday, January 15th, we are holding a fundraiser dinner here at Europa Inn with all profits going to the relief efforts.
tickets are 30$, and can be purchased directly at Europa Inn: (506) 529-3818.

all our best wishes for 2011 from our family to yours!

Plein air paint-out and 'Pool Painting'

Saint John Power Boat Club
watercolour 11x14in approx. 27x35cm Aquarell
225$

yesterday was a busy day painting with the 'plein air painters of the bay of fundy'- annual paint out. this year in Saint John with the show beeing on display at the Saint John Arts Center from June 24- September 4th 2010.
it was great meeting up with the other artists and soon afterwards everyone headed to their chosen painting spot and only a couple of us were still at the Saint John Power Boat Club marina painting away mid afternoon. the morning i spent painting this acrylic near the SJAC to be close for the noon meet-up.

today i didn't make it unfortunately due to restaurant (our business) obligations and our 3 children missing their mom.
below is the big Pool Painting i did a couple months back and never seem to find the time to blog about in depth.
It was meant to go into the humid pool area i choose high quality metal primed sign board and ASTM non-toxic sign paint (for the initial 'block in') and artists acrylics for the over layers.
out came a bright swirly and vibrant painting which i hope the viewer finds joyful and stimulating.
our inn pool will not be built this year- too many delays- but i had great fun 'going big'.
the size is 8ftx8ft and i had it attached to our living room wall while i painted it.
you can see it 'in persona' at the 'fundy artists' sale and show at the fairmont algonquin end of july.
thanks for visiting!

Abstract Endeavours

fire, ice and dynamite, tryptich 20x16ea or 20x48total
50x40cm oder gesamt: 50x120cm

while our 'hotel-pool' is still beeing dug out, i am anxious to get the decorating end of things figured out. so i started this weekend by painting this tryptich with lots of movement and bright colours. it is not the ful size painting i would need, but it will be helping me by tackling the big painting for the back wall of the pool wall. what i wanted to achive is a painting in bright colours, with lots of movement and in colours of the water and the sun, but still abstract enough that it is not a representational painting.
this is my first abstract and so it was a bit like stepping out in the dark- but a lot of fun!
as i didn't have a plan as such i let the brush and later the palette knife guide me,
midways through, i stepped back and it reminded me of this great artist, Laurie Justus Pace, one of the famous 'daily painters' she paints mostly abstract horses and calls the many layers of thick
acrylic or oil paint 'pulls' . i did not understand what she meant by her 'pulls' but after finishing this painting, i understand!
so, all in all i learned a lot, had oodles of fun and look forward to my next project- the 'real deal' for the backwall of the pool.
