1958 Oasis 'Life Saver'

1958 Oasis 'Life Saver'

Today's 1958 Oasis 'Life Saver' is a very special camper. Its decor is elaborate with lots of pattern and I have to confess, that I had to wait for a day with extra time when I selected to paint it. Its owner was very sweet and went the extra mile to send the photo to me- thank you!
I don't know the name of the camper, really, but called it 'Life Saver'. It is not because of the rainbow colors, but because it really proved to be a life saver for the owner.  There are times in our lives when we feel in over our head and walk by faith and not by sight. The story below will explain.

Please read what was shared with me...

'I worked on this (camper) about once a week as a break. My in laws lived with us for three (years). He was 95 and in a wheel chair. And she was 93 and had Alzheimer's. They were married 72 years and we didn't want them separated. He died 1 1/2 ago and she died last month. It was a long journey . But my trailer is what kept me going.'
Wow, what a story! What an incredible sacrifice! I am just painting little campers, but what people share with me about their every-day-heroic-lives blows me away. It is so comforting to know there are still so many caring, loving people out there that put their own needs and wants on the back burner to help others. May my little camper painting today be a small tribute to all you fearlessly loving people out there that make the world a better place! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

1965 Oasis Vintage Camper 'Lola'

1965 Oasis Vintage Camper 'Lola'

So, today we are back on track with campers, and today's feature is this cutie, a 1965 Oasis Vintage Camper  'Lola' is her name!
I don't know much about her, but I have to say, there are quite a few angles on this painting and as the awning is cropped, I didn't have enough time to paint it before the plein air event. So today I took the plunge and got at it. I like how the painting turned out. It had a lot of accessories in the photo and I moved them around to simplify the composition of the painting.
Yes, it was good that I waited until I had enough time to paint Lola, and today was the perfect day for it! Yea, it rained outside, too, so this cheered me up!
My youngest wants to play hockey this winter. I had always hoped it would not happen as I don't like cold ice rinks and the tight schedule with practices and games. But here we go... we live in Canada and it is the national sport. So, the Ritter's are entering the arena of hockey, haha! We got the gear and now are waiting for the official kiddie sign-up. Our little guy is ready this much I can tell you! I might have to take my paints to the ice rink now and paint hockey- stay tuned!

This 1964 Yellowstone was so much fun to paint, as my finishing camper for this challenge. The owner send me different photographs and here the pic was cropped on the right had side , so I took liberty to fill in what I thought might be there. I usually avoid this as I like to have all information important to the painting documented, but as it was the last day and I do not call it for no reason a 'painting challenge', I chose this 1964 Yellowstone anyway. I have painted another Yellowstone before, you can read about it by clicking here.
Today marks officially my last day of painting a camper a day for this January challenge. This, of course doesn't mean I'm done painting campers, but I have some commissions waiting patiently which I will attend to in the coming little while. I will blog about those here and keep you in the loop about my other art endeavours. Tomorrow, however I will post a collage featuring all campers painted. That should be fun!
I cannot say much more about it at this time, but I have some pretty exciting things lined up which I'm itching to get started with! They won't be camper themed, they won't be even watercolour, but they will be BIG! Stay tuned!
With this I wish you a blessed Sunday, which will be relaxing!      Thank you for journeying with me, your encouragement and feedback made this past month very special to me! Thank you again!                             Simone

I hope you had a good Sunday today, some might have been somewhat 'under the weather' with the snow blizzard in the Eastern USA. I hope you all are safe and sound!
Fitting with the hockey season and being the national sport of Canada, today's camper is this ultra rare Aer-flo fibreglass camper wearing the Toronto Maple Leafs 'outfit'. The owner is a woman, stemming against the tide of the mostly super girlie glamped up campers. I like the simple and clear design, ready to go camping with her favourite team!
My daughter has a very good friend who is very involved in hockey, and oh man, is she ever good on the ice... she's taking courses and classes in the neighbouring provinces with top notch coaches. What dedication from her loving parents. I'm amazed at the time and enthusiasm that is not only expected from the players but from the whole family, because it takes a family to raise a hockey player! So, go hockey, go- much better than sitting in front of any screen or being bored all day!
For me personally, the ice rinks are a tad too cold, so I'm glad non of my kids have been bitten by the 'bug' (yet). Our eldest however just signed up for figure skating, so here we go... ask me again in a year! Ha Ha!
Blessings to you all! Stay safe and warm, and hope to see you tomorrow with a new campie again!               Simone

Yieha- another cowgirl camper! Also, the owner is a proud Sister-on-the-Fly... If you haven't heard about it before, go check it out by clicking here.
I copied their mission statement from their website as a quick intro:
“Offering empowerment and sisterhood through exceptional outdoor adventures.”
As a group of women, we challenge ourselves in all that that we set our mind to. There is no age, color, religion or political group. All women who want to share in the adventures of “sisterhood” are welcome. This “sisterhood” has grown to over 6,500 women since its inception in 1999.

“WE HAVE MORE FUN THAN ANYONE”

We encourage you to join us on one of our adventures and let yourself be spoiled rotten, learn to fish, to be a real Western Cowgirl, run rivers, and enjoy pure highway traveling fun. The best part is meeting all those new sisters you didn’t even know you had. Our members range in age from 21 to 94, with most being in between. And just remember , our rules are simple...

“No Men, No Kids, Be Nice, Have Fun”

                                                                                                                 "See ya’ there!"
So, if you're interested in learning more, hop on over their website and you might see yourself signing up for one of their outdoor trips real soon!
I'm off to bed now, pretty tired after it seems these painting late-night sessions becoming the rule rather than the exception, ha ha!
Nighty night my dear reader, sleep tight and see you tomorrow again with another campie which will make the half way point of this painting challenge!                                                                                                                        Simone

Today's camper is a proudly Canadian Girl-Power Shasta named "Li'l Daisy". Its proud owner has rolled up her sleeves and done all the renos herself!!! Wow, pat on back dear lady! In her own words she writes to me: 'It is a 1963 Shasta Airflyte that I fixed up myself and have travelled over 6000 miles in one trip.'
I guess with today's glamper 'Li'l Daisy' we continue our series of girl-power campies.
In our neck of the woods we had a load of snow to shovel today, a snow day for the kids due to bad road conditions. I was sort of grouchy getting up, but a dear friend dragged me outside- with kids and sleds and my mood got so much better once outside in the cold wind, enjoying the powdery snow. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and it helps being challenged to step out and see something different, getting a different perspective. I'm so thankful for those friends!

Today's featured camper is this beautiful 1968 Serro Scotty named Wildflower.
Today we also celebrate 'Epiphany', the three wise men visiting the child Jesus with symbol-loaden gifts of Gold, Myrrh, and Frankincense which also marks the last day of the 'twelve days of Christmas'.  Tomorrow our tree will be undecorated and taken down... always comes too soon...
I thought it being a great day for painting yet another Christmas Campie... and I have spent hours painting this sweet Scotty here, somehow I lost myself indulging in the many tiny shapes, shadows and interplay of light and dark... well, my back still being out I switched from painting in sitting and standing positions- quite a crazy sight for my family seeing me pacing back-and-forth with my painting and brush in hand.
Markus took two of our kids to have the passports renewed while Maximilian didn't feel well and spent the day with me, chilling.
The 'gang' just arrived home, so I better get going here, dinner time is coming up and after that I will be rushing out for music-group practice. I never thought I'd pick up my guitar again and be part of our small but dedicated music group!
For anyone that read my 'Orthodox Christmas' post from yesterday- was talking to my friend Natasha this morning as she was out grocery-shopping up a storm for a traditional Ukrainian feast with our Georgian friend Elena... comes to mind that picture of a woman sitting on a huge table, laden with a myriad of delicious food platters- waiting for the gathering to begin- I know these ladies will be ready!!!! Let the feast begin (unfortunately I cannot make it due to my music practice...).
Anyhow, tomorrow will be another day, another campie... thank you for stopping by and your encouragement makes my day! Please feel free to share the posts with your friends on social!                                  stay in touch!           Simone

1955 Comet Camper 'Buffalo Moon'

Today's Camper is 60 years old this year! Happy Birthday little Comet 'Buffalo Moon'!
I don't have more info unfortunately, but like the old fashioned zig-zag siding style that creates special light/shadow reflections.
After yesterday's late night painting session, I smartened up and was all done painting by 2pm today- ha!
But I already know tomorrow will be a different story again due to 'excursion day' at the school, which is not a complain at all as I will be joining a trip to New River Beach- yey! I have painted there before when it was the sandcastle competition... you can see the posts here and here und here.
There are many other artists with me doing the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. You can see them post on organizier Leslie Saeta's blog.
Thank you for stopping by and see you tomorrow with a new campie again!
                         Simone

Little Blue Camper

'Little Blue Camper'
watercolour, 5x7in

I hope you had a great start into this year 2015!
This little camper is a 1971 Travelaire, it sure is a cutie. I love the shadows cast from the siding and the middle embossed accent. See you tomorrow again! Simone

Vintage Little Camper

Vintage Camper, 6x6, oil, 50$

Today's 30-paintings-in-30-days piece is about 'lil Max', a little 12ft Glenette camper that our friend Norm gave me as a gift and Markus promised to renovate for me to be sort of a mobile travelling studio. And I have to say, even though 'lil Max' is in pretty rough condition right now, I'm absolute in love with this 1965 vintage canned ham toaster camper. I asked our kids about naming our toaster camper and we agreed on 'lil Max, so our Maximilian is now proudly 'big Max'!
thanks for stopping by!                                                            Simone

Vielen Dank fuer's vorbeischauen!                            Simone
