1965 Aristocrat Lo-Liner

1965 Aristocrat Lo-Linerorig. watercolor 8x10in (matted to fit 11x14in frame)
purchase info here

Today's camper is this red 1965 Aristocrat Lo-Liner. It's proud owner writes the following:
'This is "The Hen House" - my very first vintage trailer. I named her
after finding some cute curtain fabric & a vintage red leather
suitcase! My very first vintage trailer!'

Isn't it the best how many people start a renovation (camper or other) with a some inspiration piece? Here it was a cute curtain fabric and a vintage leather suitcase. My own kitchen reno and so many others behind me I know exactly how she feels. It takes just one inspiration piece to get a vision. I guess that the red leather suitcase was the model for the red color outside.

Side note about submitting photos:

Today I had to work some imaginary angles as the photo was cropped. I usually don't choose cropped photos as it just adds that extra level of stress to guess it right, but I am a sucker for red, so I let it slip. It was stressful, haha! The owner offered different photos but it was too late to contact her as my month is coming to an end very soon.

I believe more people have tried to send  photos in, but my 'super basic uploader' doesn't have a landing page stating if things went through. Many people were wondering (however the uploader shows if things don't go through). Most problems I saw was too large files. My computer screen is not showing the whole photo if files arrive at full size, often 5mb!
I had this a couple years ago and it drove me crazy to re-size almost every other photo. So I decided that photos have to be sent the right size for me to work from. Many people read and understood and I'm very thankful for the time I could spend painting rather than editing pics;-) Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Tomorrow, more camper before we call it done for this time and I want to thank each and every one again for sending in your pics! I had fun and hope you did have, too!

1950 Westcraft Coronado

'Hi! This is my 1950 Westcraft Coronado that I restored and love to camp in!
Hope you like her as much as I do!'

this was the introduction I received with this stunning vintage camper. Isn't it a stunner?
I have  a heart for the old, old ones, they are just so luxurious, long and spacious- kind of a travelling home. It would be my dream to own one some day! But here by the ocean, the salt in the air and mist would corrode any non aluminum part pretty fast. So, I enjoy looking at the beauties that are being restored and loved in dryer regions of the continent!
In the last few days, I have gone on a journey to different states of the US, from temperate climate just like home to hot and dry . I am looking forward to showing you more different campies in the coming days, it will be great!
I received a wonderful selection of very different campers. Thank you all who participate and walk this journey with me- sending in photos, encouraging comments or liking and clicking on my Facebook and Instagram feeds. Thank you so much!
As you read this, I am packing my car to head out to a Plein Air Event at the historic Settlement 'Kings Landing'. I will meet other artists and paint for two days and interact with the visitors. It will end Sunday evening with a showing and sale of all the artists' work. If you are in the Fredericton region and look for a fun event- please come and say 'hi'! I'd love to see you there!
Never the less, there will be a camper of the day tomorrow, so please do stop by and check it out!
... and if you like what you see, please share the link on your social feeds and Pinterest! I'd feel honoured! Thank you!                    stay in touch! Simone

1966 Roadrunner Cabover 'Flo'

Today's cute feature camper is this 1966 Roadrunner Cabover named 'Flo'. While I painted it I was actually drifting into a daydream of chilling on those chairs- crazzzzyyy! What those campers do to me, haha!
There are so many cute submissions, I am actually just plucking away in the order they came in, they are all so special! Thank you to all that sent in their photos- you made my day! You will see in the coming days that every camper has a different decor, too, as each owner make it their own.
Well, today's is very classic I'd say, I edited out a bit of the decor, as sometimes it would get overwhelming to make all those little shapes read right for the viewer. Sometimes less is more. I hope you can feel the sun- warm not hot, haha! We had fog today, well, we live by the sea after all. Fog feels good on my skin, I like it. But hopefully tomorrow will be sun again as the kids have a school excursion to New River Beach, a beautiful sand beach with crashing waves and stunning surroundings. Yes, let's go for sun!
Thank you for stopping by and see you tomorrow again!

This 1964 Yellowstone was so much fun to paint, as my finishing camper for this challenge. The owner send me different photographs and here the pic was cropped on the right had side , so I took liberty to fill in what I thought might be there. I usually avoid this as I like to have all information important to the painting documented, but as it was the last day and I do not call it for no reason a 'painting challenge', I chose this 1964 Yellowstone anyway. I have painted another Yellowstone before, you can read about it by clicking here.
Today marks officially my last day of painting a camper a day for this January challenge. This, of course doesn't mean I'm done painting campers, but I have some commissions waiting patiently which I will attend to in the coming little while. I will blog about those here and keep you in the loop about my other art endeavours. Tomorrow, however I will post a collage featuring all campers painted. That should be fun!
I cannot say much more about it at this time, but I have some pretty exciting things lined up which I'm itching to get started with! They won't be camper themed, they won't be even watercolour, but they will be BIG! Stay tuned!
With this I wish you a blessed Sunday, which will be relaxing!      Thank you for journeying with me, your encouragement and feedback made this past month very special to me! Thank you again!                             Simone

Jayco Pink Welcome

Jayco Pink Welcome

Today we have a 'newer' model camper, a Jayco, which I call Jayco Pink Welcome. A company who started in 1968 and are still producing today. I don't know any details of this camper model, but I liked the cute pink accents and that even a newer camper can be glamped up pretty easily.
Here is some info from the Jayco website:
"Jayco started with a dream. Lloyd, my late husband and I, had a dream that was based on our love of God and family and aimed at owning a business that would provide wholesome recreation for families to enjoy together. In 1968, in a barn on a country road, our dream became a reality."  (Bertha Bontrager-Rhodes, wife of late founder Lloyd)
Blending Old World Amish craftsmanship with innovative technology, Jayco is the nation’s largest family-owned and operated RV manufacturer today, developing a full lineup of recreation vehicles at our company headquarters in rural Middlebury, Ind. And while our product line has grown considerably, every unit we build is still guided by Lloyd’s vision and a humble desire to help make it easier for families to explore together and relax together.

Here I re-visited this painting I blogged about a couple of days ago, a 1967 Scotsman, who was travelling the 48 States in one summer! The perspective of the tow car was off but I couldn't figure out why, so I added a bit more pigment to the lower part and I think it is much better.
Tomorrow is the last day for this January challenge, I wonder what I will paint... I might have an idea, but not sure... the last days are always the hardest for me, pretty tired these last days, especially the daily blogging, picture editing and posting is something I'd like to streamline down the road. It was great to see what works, what didn't so much and what has to be updated and worked on- on the back-end and the front-end of the website and social platforms. I am still learning so much and have to learn so much more.
But first, I will take a few days off to catch up with something very important: my dear loved ones who have been waiting very patiently for me to paint every day.
What some of you might not know, I'm homeschooling, too, so my days are filled with answering math questions, teaching about 'short and long vowel sounds' and checking progress in literature and sciences. Hence, my painting time is mostly evenings and nights. No complaint, no complaint at all, we have to make time for what we love, right and I am so lucky to being able to have such a supportive crew behind me!
Until tomorrow again, nighty night and Happy Weekend!                Simone

Canadian Glamper- 1963 Shasta Airflyte

Canadian Glamper- 1963 Shasta Airflyte

Today's camper is a proudly Canadian Girl-Power Shasta named "Li'l Daisy". Its proud owner has rolled up her sleeves and done all the renos herself!!! Wow, pat on back dear lady! In her own words she writes to me: 'It is a 1963 Shasta Airflyte that I fixed up myself and have travelled over 6000 miles in one trip.'
I guess with today's glamper 'Li'l Daisy' we continue our series of girl-power campies.
In our neck of the woods we had a load of snow to shovel today, a snow day for the kids due to bad road conditions. I was sort of grouchy getting up, but a dear friend dragged me outside- with kids and sleds and my mood got so much better once outside in the cold wind, enjoying the powdery snow. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and it helps being challenged to step out and see something different, getting a different perspective. I'm so thankful for those friends!

Today's featured camper is this beautiful 1968 Serro Scotty named Wildflower.
Today we also celebrate 'Epiphany', the three wise men visiting the child Jesus with symbol-loaden gifts of Gold, Myrrh, and Frankincense which also marks the last day of the 'twelve days of Christmas'.  Tomorrow our tree will be undecorated and taken down... always comes too soon...
I thought it being a great day for painting yet another Christmas Campie... and I have spent hours painting this sweet Scotty here, somehow I lost myself indulging in the many tiny shapes, shadows and interplay of light and dark... well, my back still being out I switched from painting in sitting and standing positions- quite a crazy sight for my family seeing me pacing back-and-forth with my painting and brush in hand.
Markus took two of our kids to have the passports renewed while Maximilian didn't feel well and spent the day with me, chilling.
The 'gang' just arrived home, so I better get going here, dinner time is coming up and after that I will be rushing out for music-group practice. I never thought I'd pick up my guitar again and be part of our small but dedicated music group!
For anyone that read my 'Orthodox Christmas' post from yesterday- was talking to my friend Natasha this morning as she was out grocery-shopping up a storm for a traditional Ukrainian feast with our Georgian friend Elena... comes to mind that picture of a woman sitting on a huge table, laden with a myriad of delicious food platters- waiting for the gathering to begin- I know these ladies will be ready!!!! Let the feast begin (unfortunately I cannot make it due to my music practice...).
Anyhow, tomorrow will be another day, another campie... thank you for stopping by and your encouragement makes my day! Please feel free to share the posts with your friends on social!                                  stay in touch!           Simone

Isn't this a cute glamper?? My daughter thinks pink is the best, so here we go, may I introduce: Little Miss PitStop, a Serro Scotty and matching pink scooter Pepto. She even has her own facebook page! you can check it out by clicking here.
I painted this watercolor painting on Friday while waiting at my kids' school for them to finish their week. The management is very generous and has a room for me at the school where I am free to paint, work on the computer or sketch while waiting for the kidlets. Now I look forward to the Fridays and to painting!
Do you have special rituals that make your waiting for weekend more enjoyable?
See you Soon! Simone

Simone
