Friday was my cleaning and organizing day as the kids fetched a full day at daycare. We had some schooling left to do in the morning, but as soon as 'the air was clear' (aka: kids out of the house) I headed straight for the kids' rooms to re-organize, sort and clean... 6 hours later I have had it and packed my paints and headed to that little house near the college with the little Beetle Bug Volkswagen outside.  I had my eye on it to paint it for quite a while;-) Does not everyone have a memory with a Beetle Bug in it? What is your Beetle story?

Am Freitag war mein Putz- und Organisiertag weil die Kinder einen ganzen Tag in der Kita unterkommen konnten. Wir hatten nur am morgen noch ein paar Schulsachen zu erledigen aber alsbald die 'Luft rein war' (Kinder aus'm Haus) hab ich mich ans Werk geschwungen in den Kinderzimmern: Organisieren, sortieren, Grossputz... nach 6 Stunden hatte ich dann die Nase voll und packte meine Malsachen.
An der Berufsschule ist ein kleines Haus mit dem roten VW Käfer vorndraussen, auf den hab ich schon länger ein Auge geworfen... hat nicht jeder eine Erinnerung oder Geschichte mit einen VW Kaefer? Was ist deine Geschichte?

Painting Course and Kids Art

This summer was so busy I have not posted the paintings I did during a weekend course I took with Michael Chesley Johnson through Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Center, here in St. Andrews.
It was a fun week and I learned a lot, thank you Michael for being such a gifted instructor- highly recommend!

My kids have been busy, too, working on their own art projects. As we hung out by the beach most of the summer, we have quite a collection of found treasures at home now. The kids have so much fun assembling them in shadow box collages which are on display at their specially designated wall space at Europa Restaurant. They make the perfect souvenir and people have been just gobbling them up faster than what the kids can collect! Thank you! Each has a special project they are saving for;-) Prices are $30-$60.

Dieser Sommer war so vollgepackt, dass ich komplett vergessen habe diese Bilder hochzuladen von meinem Wochenendkurs mit Michael Chesley Johnson, angeboten von Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Center hier in St. Andrews. Es hat Spass gemacht und ich lernte viel, danke Michael, du bist ein sehr geduldiger und talentierter Lehrer und Kuenstler!

Meine Kinder sind auch kreativ und arbeiten an ihren eigenen Kunstprojekten. Weil wir sehr viel Zeit am Strand verbringen, haben wir ein Sammelsurium an allerlei Schätzen die wir Meer gefunden haben. Meine drei Kuenstler haben richtig viel Spass, sie nun in tiefen Rahmen auszustellen. Sie haben sogar ihre eigene Wand im Restaurant zum ausstellen! Diese Collagen sind das perfekte Souvenir und die Leute schnappen sie weg schneller wie die Kinder sie machen koennen! Danke!
Jedes Kind hat einen speziellen Wunsch auf den sie hinsparen;-) Preise ca. 30$-60$ pro Collage.

Commission Painting and Display

Day out in St. Andrews

The day after my 30-paintings-in-30-days challenge, I headed right back to painting: watercolour this time (for a commission). The client asked for a St. Andrews scene as the painting was a going away gift.

I finally got around to display the dried paintings from my September challenge! I think the display turned out fun and colourful- and our french butler is not so lonely now;-)
If you are interested in a painting (think Christmas!)  stop by the restaurant anytime after 3:30pm to view them. $50 each, the big Coca-Cola is $150 (10$ from each sale donated to 'Let's hear it for Debby Fundraiser for hearing aids).

Display at Europa Inn Entrance Area

Am Tag nachdem meine 30-Tage-Challenge vorbei war, bin ich gleich wieder mit malen durchgestartet: Aquarell diesmal, eine Auftragsarbeit. Der Kunde wollte ein Bild von St. Andrews da es ein Geschenk war fuer jemand der wegzieht.

Und, meine kleinen Bilder sind jetzt auch trocken, so hab ich mir Gedanken gemacht, wie ich sie nun 
ausstellen sollte und kam mit dieser Idee auf, schön bunt! Und unser französischer Butler ist jetzt auch nicht mehr so einsam, haha! Einen guten Start in diese Woche wünsche ich dir!  Simone

This is the last painting for the 30-paintings-in-30-days challenge. To celebrate, I thought I'd do a bigger format and pick up on one of the themes from this month: Coca-Cola. The proportion of the bottle fit perfectly with the 18 x 6 canvas, too.

As most of you know, the prices are about 1/2 of my regular prices and I will honour them 'til end of October (which also marks the end of the hearing aid fundraiser for 'Let's hear it for Debbie'), after this, they will go up regular priced.

Day's end in St. Andrews

Dies ist nun mein letztes Bild für die 30-Bilder-in-30-Tagen challenge. Zum Abschluss, dachte ich mir, male ich etwas groesseres und fasse ein Thema der letzten Tage wieder auf: Coca-Cola. Die Proportionen der Flasche passten auch perfekt zu der 18x6in (45x15cm) Leinwand.

Falls ihr interessiert seid an einem der Bilder (Weihnachten kommt bald!), bitte lasst es mich wissen, jetzt ist die Gelegenheit! Wie die meisten wissen, sind diese Preise ungefähr die Haelfte von meinen Normalpreisen und ich werde sie halten bis Ende Oktober (was auch das Ende von 'Hörgeräte fuer Debbie' Spendenaktion ist), danach werden die Preise für diese Bilder auf Normalpreis adjustiert.

Für alle meine Facebook Fans: Sobald wir die 100 Likes haben, wird ein Bild unter allen Fans verlost!

This is my second last painting for this 30-day-challenge, and because the weather wasn't really nice outside and the schooling was a draaaaag today (hey, Monday!), I opted for a studio session in the warm with radio entertainment and a yummy cup of tea after the kids' bedtime- hence another late-nighter, haha! 
I love the local fishing boats, their rustic charm, a perfect fit for our rugged coastline with its ever-changing tides.

Dies ist mein Vorletztes Bild fuer die 30-Tage-30-Bilder challenge und da das Wetter heute nicht so einladend war und der Schultag so zäh gegangen ist (hey Montag!), entschloss ich mich drin zu malen nachdem die Kinder im Bett waren; mit Radio im Hintergrund und einer feinen Tasse Tee war's grad nett im warmen Stübchen: wieder mal 'ne Nachtaktion, haha!
Ich liebe die Fischerboote hier, ihr rustikaler Scharm passt perfekt zu unserer steinigen Küstenlandschaft mit den immerwährenden Gezeiten.

With summer coming to an end, but weather still so very beautiful and warm, the St. Andrews Kiwanis campground still has a good number of trailers parked. Of course less and less every day and a few were towed while I painted this afternoon... Summer is ending and Fall is here...
I looked for something vintage, with character, and here I found it in this Glendale Motorhome from 1984 (Ruth, the owner shared with me, very sweet people, she asked if they should keep and renovate her sweet little motorhome and I told her a definite Yes!). Good bye summer, and I hope to see all of you campers return to St. Andrews next summer again! Thanks for stopping by! Der Sommer ist schon zu Ende, aber das Wetter ist noch so warm und sonnig, dass St. Andrews' Kiwanis Campingplatz noch einige Besucher hat. Viele Leute mieten sich ihren Platz fuer den ganzen Sommer und wohnen dann in ihrem Wohnwagen direkt am Meer in St. Andrews (recht günstig) und kommen entweder an Wochenenden oder bleiben hier fuer die Sommersaison. Natürlich werden es nun täglich weniger Wohnwagen und -mobile und einige wurden weggefahren während ich heut Nachmittag malte... der Sommer ist zu Ende und der Herbst ist hier...
Ich suchte nach was älterem, Oldie mit Charakter und fand dieses Glendale Motorhome von 1984 (wie mir Besitzerin Ruth so nett erklärte). Auf Wiedersehen Sommer, und ich hoffe alle euch Camper im nächsten Jahr wieder in St. Andrews zu sehen!

What a great day it was- the weather almost like in July! Great choir concert with the 'Voices of the Bay' (Sunday on Grand Manan and October 19, St. Stephen- if you can, treat yourself!) and morning fun at the anglican fall fair (lots of candy for the kids and fun games, thank you to all the volunteers and organizers!). Late afternoon painting at the wharf, today it was the yellow fishing boat. Had a nice visit from the daughter of the fisherman owning the 'All Done' (the turquoise boat I painted a couple of days ago). All in all a memorable autumn day! Welch ein schoener Tag es heute doch war- Wetter wie im Juli! Tolles Chorkonzert mit den 'Voices of the Bay' (Morgen, Sonntag auf Grand Manan und Oktober 19 in St. Stephen- sehr zu empfehlen)

und am Morgen viel Kinderspass beim Herbstfair (viel Schlecksach fuer die Kinder und spassige Spiele, danke an alle Helfer und Organisatoren!). Spaetnachmittag malen an der Anlegestelle, heute war das gelbe Boot dran... waehrend ich malte bekam ich dann noch einen Ueberraschungsbesuch von Jane, der Tochter des Besitzers des tuerkisen Fischerbootes welches ich vor ein paar Tagen malte). Alles in allem ein ereignisreicher und schoener Herbsttag! Schoenen Sonntag euch allen und Danke fuers Vorbeischauen!        Simone
